A little village knestling within the central part of the Sierra Mágina district, located on its northwestern hillsides. A large part of the council area, and even the village centre, fall within the Sierra Mágina Natural Park and so natural attractions abound. The quaint streets and houses of the village centre are very interesting. The main economic activities are derived from the olive tree monoculture and olive mills, with sheepfarming also being important. Interesting examples of Albanchéz de Mágina's historical heritage are the parish church of the Asunción, with its northern frontage dating from the end of the 16th century, and its castle, of christian origin and which must have been erected at the begining of the 15th century. The rounded shape of the corners is a typical feature of castles belonging to the Order of Calatrava, a reply to the then current development of artillery. It was declared an Historical Monument in 1985.
