A village knestling in the central part of the El Condado district, which is situated in the north of the province. Farmed land takes up more than half the municipal area, mainly in the south where olive groves predominate, although the rich plain next to the Guadalima river provides space for market gardening, fodder and industrial scale crops. Scrubland is dominant up in the mountainous part, and this is the reason there is no livestock rearing has developed, although the land is very interesting from a hunting perspective, especially due to its wealth of small game. Economic activity revolves around agriculture, especially olive growing. The Cueva de la Lobera cave sanctuary, where numerous bronze Iberian period (4th century before Christ) votive offerings have been found, is very interesting. The very somber Excolegiata de Santiago church, from the 16th century and designed by Juan de Aranda, is also noteworthy; it was declared an Historical and Artistic Monument in 1983.
