A little village situated in the Campiña district where it takes up a small portion of land to the south east. One hundred percent of Its municipal area is made up of farmed land, mainly a monoculture of olive trees, since the small irrigated areas under herbaceous crops alongside the Salado de Arjona stream have, over the last few years, been steadily encroached by new olive tree plantations. Economic dependence on olive trees and olive mills is partially mitigated by jobs provided by an important construction company located in the village. The parish church of San Pedro Advíncula, built midway through the 15th century over the remains of a small 9th century hermitage, is the pinnacle of Escañuela's historical and artistic heritage. It was planned by Vicente Serrano, while the work was carried out by Juan María de la Cueva.
