This is a little village located a few kilometres to the northwest of the provincial capital. It is dedicated to agriculture, for the most part olive trees, although up to about thirty years ago Fuerte del Rey was predominantly under cereal crops. There is no irrigation here, as there are no permanent water courses nor wells in use within the municipal area. Construction and the metal working, agricultural implements and auxiliary machinery manufacturing for the olive oil production industry are quite important locally due to the jobs they create. There is abundant small game hunting, especially of partridges and hares, although these species are presently being put under a lot of pressure by hunters. Outstanding examples of its architectural heritage are the church of the Natividad de Nuestra Señora, construction of which came to an end in 1796; its most interesting features are its stone façade and its slender, single sided belfry.
