Marmolejo is a small town belonging to the Campiņa district, located on its western side, right on the border with the province of Cordoba. The northern half of the municipal area is hill country (Sierra Morena); and one sector of this area is a part of the Sierras de Andújar Natural Park. Farm land is concentrated in the southern half with the main crop being olives, although there are some important irrigated crops such as corn, cotton, alfalfa grass and a large variety of market garden products on the plain next to the Guadalquivir river. Livestock is important mainly due to the presence of a large semi-factory based milk producing cattle development. The economy of Marmolejo is based on agriculture, livestock, forestry developments and hunting, as well as the hotel and catering trade feeding on passenger traffic from the nearby Andalusia motorway. The church of Nuestra Seņora de la Paz, built between the 14th and 18th centuries, is quite remarkable.
