A village located on the south eastern edge of the Alto Guadalquivir district, on the provincial border with Granada. The northern half of the municipal area is part of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, with its geomorphology changing towards the south and the south east, up to the Guadiana Menor and Guadalentín rivers, where the landscape of Pozo Alcón changes quickly with many very eroded areas of semi-desert, dotted with clumps of esparto grass and wild thyme. Agriculture is the main activity, especially olive groves, herbaceus plants and almond trees. livestock is important, with sheep rearing and poultry farming predominating. Pozo Alcón's poor communications with the province of Jaén mean that it has closer links to Baza (Granada) than to other places in our province. Tourism, on the other hand, has recently been shaping up as a future prospect for the so-called “Sierra del Pozo” area.
