This village takes up the northern part of the Alto Guadalquivir district, to which it belongs, travsering the district from east to west. The eastern half is mountainous, replanted with conifers, and belonging to The Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, reaching as far as the Guadalquivir, shortly after the source of the river. The west is farmland, with olive trees predominating. In contrast, nearer to the Guadalquivir unirrigated herbaceous crops and irrigated plain's crops predominate. The varied nature of the surroundings of Santo Tomé mean that areas of undeniable interest, from the high mountain down to the lands on the plain, giving the landscape very diverse flora and fauna can be found within its municipal area. Economic activity in the area is linked to agriculture and tourism. As an example of its architectural heritage we can point out the church belltower, which dates from the 14th century.
