Siles

Population: 2636

Altitude (m): 826

Located on the north eastern edge of the Sierra de Segura district, on the border with the province of Albacete, Siles falls almost entirely within the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park. It is a predominantly forestry-based village, with farm land, mainly olive trees, concentrated in a fringe of land facing south west-north east including the village itself, which is situated to the northwest of the district. Economic activity is based on agriculture (olive trees) and tourism, with forestry and sheep rearing also making a contribution. There are abundant and varied natural spaces which, along with its very diverse flora and fauna, give the area undeniable charm for tourists. The Torre del Cubo tower, of Muslim origin, and the renaissance style parish of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, are noteworthy examples of Siles' Historical heritage.
