Population: 4560 Altitude (m): 923 The medium sized village of Valdepeñas de Jaén is located in the south west of the province, in the Sierra Sur district. The mass of mountains within its municipal area is important, given that this is part of the Sub-betic mountains, with the Sierras de la Pandera, to the north, and the Alta Coloma to the south east. It also has magnificent farmed oak groves. These particular surroundings mean that large game hunting is common. Valdepeñas de Jaén is an profoundly agricultural and livestock rearing village. It is very important to point out the goat's milk production within the livestock activity. There is also a small part of the area under olive trees, making this olive oil production industry practically the only one which exists in the vecinity. Thanks to its pivileged geographical situation, Valdepeñas has natural areas of great beauty, with an abundance of water and a multitude of springs and streams. Villages: La Sierra
