Villanueva del Arzobispo is located on the eastern edge of the Loma y Las Villas district. Its natural borders are: to the north, the Guadalquivir Valley and the Sierra de Cazorla Mountains, to the east the lands that give access to the Sierra de las Villas hills and to the south, the Loma de Úbeda. Part of its municipal area is irrigated by the Guadalquivir and Guadalimar rivers, which are the origin of fertile lands ideal for agricultural production. The olive oil industry is very important in Villanueva del Arzobispo , as it has one of the biggest olive oil manufacturing cooperatives in the country, with a larger quantity of olives milled than any other village in the province. From its architectural heritage the Convent of Santa Ana, a 16th century building constructed around a two storey renaissance cloister, and the church of San Andrés, with its mixture of baroque and classical styles, are both quite remarkable.
